Almighty and most merciful God, Who didst endow Blessed Jane Frances, consumed by love for Thee, with wondrous spiritual strength to follow the way of perfection along every path of life, and by her didst make Thy Church illustrious with new spiritual children, grant, through her merits and prayers, that we who realize our own weakness and trust only in Thy might, may be assisted by heavenly grace and may overcome those things which fight against us.

It was in the sign of the cross that the cross flourished with the end of persecutions
 It took a supernatural sign in the sky and a saintly mother for the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great to change the course of history, altering the trend from persecute Christians to promoting the faith as a national religion. This about face and sudden switch to prosperity for the Church is the subject of today's episode in which we detail the Popes of that time and how Holy Mother Church grew in tremendous stages once they emerged from the catacombs and into the mainstream of society. Terror of the tongue! We will have to answer for all we say!
 Though Our Lord deals with the Eighth Commandment in today's Lesson/Meditation He refers to the Fifth Commandment - "Thou shalt not kill" for we can do grave damage through the terror of the tongue, killing someone's reputation or good name, something that can not be retrieved once it is spoken. We will be held accountable for all we do or SAY. That is the essence of Jesus' words in the 99th and next-to-the-last Lesson/Meditation to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart, which is one in a series of 100 Meditative Lessons imparted to her. Terror strikes Northern Ireland. All factions unite in the hunt for perpetrators of tragedy
It has been said God allows evil for good and after decades of bitter fighting between Catholic and Protestant factions in Northern Ireland, one of the worst tragedies ever may strangely unite all in apprehending the terrorists who planted a car bomb in the quiet village of Omagh, a good distance from the main theater of violence in Belfast. All parties pin the blame on forces who are striving to undermine the peace process instituted on Good Friday this year which has given hope to so many. The car bombing killed 28 and injured 200 more on Sunday, one week before Bill Clinton is expected to visit the area. For more, click on Northern Ireland.
Are we heading for a showdown between the Latin and Byzantine rites over the issue of married priests?
A recent announcement by the head of the Ruthenian Eastern Church indicates they are bypassing the new Codes of Canon Law and conveniently taking the Holy Father's words in his encyclical Oriental Lumen literally by allowing married priests in the Eastern-rite churches. This effects countries everywhere including the U.S. but the Vatican is expected to respond negatively to this before the new law goes into effect the end of this month. Feast of Saint Maximilian Kolbe prompts Catholics to ignore cross ban at Auschwitz
  Rather than kowtowing to Jewish demands to remove the crosses at the former Nazi death camp in Auschwitz, Poland, Catholics honored the feast of a priest who died there and has since been canonized - St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe by placing 100 more crosses on the site despite the fact the head bishop of Poland called for a stop to placing crosses on this site which has created great controversy between Catholic and Jew, the former contending the Jews have no monopoly on suffering. Investigation of Human Rights Bishop's Murder takes on additional bizarre twist with arrest of more priests
Church authorities in Guatamala are already upset with the investigation being conducted by the Guatamalan government over the killing of Bishop Juan Gerardi Conedera, an auxiliary bishop of the diocese who championed human rights and was murdered shortly after speaking out against the government. A few weeks ago the government arrested a priest close to the bishop and his housekeeper. Now word comes that two more priests - one a chancellor of the diocese and the other a pastor - have been arrested, contending they knew what was going on. The archbishop has publicly stated that it is merely a smokescreen from apprehending the real culprit or culprits, most likely associated with the government. For more, click on Guatamala arrests
