DALLAS (CWN) - Former priest Rudolph Kos unexpectedly
pleaded guilty to three of eight charges that he sexually
abused young boys at his parish as opening statements and
testimony were about to begin on Tuesday.
Kos pleaded guilty to two counts of indecency with a child
and one count of sexual assault on a child, both
second-degree felonies. He is alleged to have molested four
teenage boys when he was a parish priest in the Diocese of
Dallas in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Kos is now facing
three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two
counts of indecency with a child. If convicted on the more
serious charges, he could receive a life sentence.
Kos was the focus of a $119.6 million civil judgment
against the Diocese of Dallas last summer, in which the
jury found the diocese covered up the abuse and failed to
stop it.
